Transparent Peer Review

Providing greater insight into the peer review process

Transparent peer review increases the transparency of the peer review process at time of publication.

It allows the reader to see the exchange between authors and reviewers through publication of anonymous reviews and the author’s response to the reviewers’ comments as supporting information, freely available alongside the final article.

This approach differs from Open Peer Review in that the anonymity of reviewers is maintained, unless otherwise requested by the reviewer (and approved by the journal’s editor). Additionally, the peer review process is only changed at the time of publication. Submitted manuscripts still follow a single-anonymized peer review model.

Our Transparent Peer Review service is currently available for authors submitting to ACS Central Science and The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters.
