Programs for Funders
Working with research funders to take open science further
ACS operates a number of programs to help researchers, institutions and funders make their work more open.
Available programs
ChemRxiv
The preprint server for chemistry – owned and supported by the ACS and its partner societies, ChemRxiv provides authors with a place to register their preprints, and supports manuscript transfer to ACS journals. Find out more about ChemRxiv here.
ACS read and publish agreements
Authors are notified of any applicable agreements as they work through the publication process, including notification if additional support is available from their funder. Find out more about read and publish agreements here.
Public access to research
ACS has introduced a new pathway for authors to comply with funder requirements for public access to research outputs. Find out more here.
Automatic manuscript deposition
Contact us to discuss how ACS can enable automatic deposition of author accepted manuscripts to your organization’s preferred open access repository.
Transformative Journals
Several ACS hybrid journals were classified as Transformative Journals under Plan S, which ended support for this program in December 2024 – find out more here.
