ACS 2021 Open Access Survey

Each year ACS surveys its community of authors and reviewers to benchmark their attitudes towards, and experiences of, open access (OA) publishing. The most recent survey took place between July – August 2021 and gathered responses from over 1,400 participants, with additional feedback provided by focus groups at the ACS Spring Meeting in March 2022.

The 2021 results reflect the continued growth of OA in the chemical sciences and related disciplines, with further growth in OA expected to be driven by institutional support.
