Collaboration with Copyright Clearance Center

Q: What is the relationship between ACS and the Copyright Clearance Center?

A: In 2018, ACS Publications and Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) collaborated on RightsLink ®for Scientific Communications, a workflow system that helps authors to meet funder open-access mandates and helps institutions to transition from a traditional journal subscription model to an open-access business model. RightsLink ®for Scientific Communications provides researchers with a seamless, effortless publishing experience. Institutions benefit from RightsLink for Scientific Communications because the infrastructure of RightsLink® for Scientific Communications accommodates multiple agreement types, provides article publishing charge (APC) discounts, and automates time-consuming manual tasks. Through the development of metadata-driven agreement management workflows, the platform helps ACS partner with institutions’ Read + Publish Agreements at the institutional, national, and consortia levels.
